He took you at your word. You said you wanted it and he listened. Men are not good at picking out presents or remembering dates. I will let you in on a little wisdom, learned from years of experience. Never expect a man to remember a birthday anniversary or the date of your first kiss etc. They are not thoughtless…just clueless. They are men, they are not good at this sort of thing. So save your self and him a lot of heartache and hurt feelings. Remind him of dates. I tell my husband a month before my birthday "oh my birthday is next month". Then "oh my birthday is next Friday", and so on. I also tell him what I want…usually a gift certificate…fits and is always the right color. Now when I was younger I thought it was awful that he didn't know me well enough to know exactly what I wanted, even though I never told him…"he should know"… but he didn't. It occurred to me one day I was being unfair. He did love me, he just couldn't read my mind. So give him a break don't expect him to "just know". You just tell him..leave hints if you don't want to just come out and say "get me____ (whatever).
If he is a good man and a good husband reward him with your help. Don't get hurt ..get smart.
