There is Money Hidden in Your Refrigerator

Everyone is noticing that their electric costs are rising higher and higher. This has led to more and more people looking for ways to lower their monthy utility bills in order to cut expenses.

Out of all the appliances you use, the refrigerator and dryer account for the biggest portion of your electricity usage. Appliances require electricity to run, and you should be aware that some appliances do a better job than others when it comes to saving energy and saving you money.

Each appliance has recommended practices that lower the electricity consumption of that particular appliance. Knowing the proper way to use appliances is to your benefit because the economical use of an appliance can most definitely save money. Also knowing the facts when you go to purchase your appliance will lead you to choose more energy efficient appliances. This in turn will save you money over time.

The manufacturers of quality appliances always include operating instructions, tips, and recommended practices on how to use their particular appliance in the most efficient manner. It is important that you become familiar with these recommended practices. This can help reduce the amount of money you spend on electricity by recucing the amount of electricity the appliance uses. These guidelines are useful and simple to follow and will help you get the best energy savings out of your appliance.

Rest assured that the guidelines are not meant to reduce the helpfulness and convenience that these appliances bring. By following the guidelines you will be quite surprised at the large savings you can generate by simply using the appliances wisely and be a "green" owner of these appliances.

As was stated before, refrigerators and dryers are one of the top consumers of electricity in your home. This article will give you tips on how to use your refrigerator most efficiently. You can litteraly look in your refrigerator and save money.

Refrigerator Money Savers

Refrigerators are the most energy consumptive appliance you have in your home. The reason for this is that they are highly complex devices that perform a variety of energy consumptive jobs. The main purpose of a refrigerator is to generate heat and to absorb heat in order to freee or cool the contents inside.

Refrigerators are principally used to store food and beverages to keep them cold and to naturally preserve the food they contain. When purchasing a new refrigerator, an Energy Star rating is a great indicator that the appliance will save you money over time. Modern refrigerators offer a lot more in the number of the features they provide, but they are much more energy efficient than the refrigerators of the past.

The draw back to the improvements in refrigerators is that they are getting larger and larger. While an appliance may be labeled Energy Star rated, and is considered efficient, larger refrigerators will use more energy.

There is a decided advantage to considering a two-door refrigerator vs. a single door model. Two door models are clearly more economical and energy efficient because the contents of the freezer and the freezer temperatures are not disrupted when the door is opened to access contents in the main compartment. Just looking into your refrigerator will help you save money. Below are some simple tips to help you get the most out of your refrigerator.

1. Never store hot foods or beverages. The way refrigerators work is by absormbing the heat from any food it contains, and then conducts that heat to the compressor. This temperature conduction process is what uses the most energy.

2. Make it a habit to clean the condenser coils of your refrigerator on a regular basis. These coils are usually located behind or underneath the refrigertor.

3. Be sure the seals on both the refrigerator and freezer doors are sealing properly and are tight fitting. This will prevent unnecessary leakage of air from inside the fridge. Once they become worn and damaged replace them. A good way to test the seals is to place paper currency such as a dollar bill in the door. When the door is closed you shouldn't be able to pull the bill out easily.

4. If you don't plan on keeping a free standing freezer filled up, don't buy one. It is very wasteful in terms of energy to keep a standalone freezer unless you plan on keeping it constantly full. It is a known fact that a half empty freezer actually uses more energy to operate than a full one.

5. Clearly label leftover foods and use them. While a refrigerator full of leftovers will be a big energy savings, if you don't use them, you will be wasting money, and precious natural resources.

Conclusion

While this article focused on the refrigerator, similar savings can be realized if you just take the time to follow the manufacturer's suggestions on how to best use the appliance you use. Saving energy saves money and is good for the planet.

I don't think it will have more fry, however another fish may. I would suggest feeding the young fry the micro food for a little while until they are around 1.5 cm in length and then feed crushed flake for a while. They can probably be released with the other fish after a few months if not less, just look to see the size of them and if they can be eaten or not.

Hi Mariam…do you think you have a need for a food saver? I know you are cooking only for 1 so you might not need it…but its been the best thing for my family in reducing food spoilage and perserving leftovers and buying in bulk. Let me know…I have an extra one that is an older model and works well (we upgraded). I was thinking of craigslisting it but if you think its something you could use…you are welcome to it.
