Green Food Savers Bags

What is a good way to keep your fruit fresher longer?
I normally shop in bulk because I'm always really busy and I can never make it to the store, so I normally have one really big trip a month, however I like to get fruits like strawberries, grapes, apples, oranges, bananas, kiwis and so on, I also like salads a lot so I get a lot of lettuce and tomatoes. However, I buy a lot of this and it normally goes bad before I've ate half of it, I was looking online at the Debbie Meyer Green Bags, or maybe even those vaccum seal food savers, and there was also Vacuware which you get a pump with and suck out the air, I guess what I'm asking is what works best, I'm looking to get my fruit to last a couple weeks before starting to go bad, especially strawberries because I normally get a week before they go on me. Any ideas?
If you freeze fruit there texture changes and they don't taste as good, I feel like they lose flavor or something, but thanks for the advise
The key is ethelyne gas.
Most fruits produce it, and are also sensitive to it. It is the gas that triggers ripening, so the trick is getting it out of wherever your fruit is. So no unbreathable plastic bags.
If I were you, I would try the green bags because they work on the principle of ridding the area of ethelyne gas.
The vaccuum bags would just just squash your stuff and probably make it worse since the gas cannot escape and would just build up.

Reduce Effects of Climate Change
There are many ways that a person can go about reducing the effects of climate change. Many of the world’s leading scientists are saying that global warming is already here, so doing things to reduce it’s effect on climate change is about all that people can do right now. People around the world are becoming more creative with how they do their part to reducing the effects of climate change; things that anyone can do. It is just a matter of doing it. Below is a list of twenty different things a person can do to reduce the effect of climate change:
1. Change all the light bulbs in the house to compact fluorescent light bulbs.
2. Use alternative methods of transportation, such as walking, riding a bike, purchasing a hybrid vehicle or car pooling.
3. Design and build your own solar cooker to cook your own food instead of using that horrible, energy wasting oven and stove.
4. Stop purchasing bottled water. Not only is most of it simply tap water, a lot of energy and water is wasted in bottling water.
5. Eat less meat. Raising livestock uses up a lot of water, and a lot of energy is used in processing the meat.
6. Take the excess concrete off your property and plant trees, shrubs and flower in its place.
7. Move into a smaller, more practical house. A mansion is just a major waste of space and a horrible drain on resources.
8. Wash laundry in cold water and hang it to dry outside.
9. Start a home business; this will take away the need to travel from the home.
10. Pay the bills online. Why use paper when you can view everything online?
11. Make your own, re-usable fabric bags or purchase them and avoid using plastic or paper.
12. Purchase local food.
13. Purchase goods that are not over-packaged.
14. Live a simpler life. Only purchase the things you really need.
15. Be creative with your trash. Decorate soup tins into pen holders, etc.
16. Give green gifts, like growing a flower in a decorated pot and giving it to your mother on Mother’s Day.
17. Use white vinegar for some of the cleaning.
18. Time the showers and avoid baths. If you’re brave enough, you can have a cool shower.
19. Purchase a lawn mower that doesn’t require electricity or gasoline.
20. Get rid of the lawn and replace it with a rock garden.

You know I am all about the green food, but that hemp seed butter kinda makes me feel sick just looking at it. Blech.
Solution to tupperware… Like you said, throw out all that don't have matching lids. Keep the rest neatly stacked.
Buy Pyrex glass food savers instead. Zapping food in plastic tupperware is not healthy, especially for men. I hear plastic increases estrogen in men. (?!) Plus you will take way better care of the pyrex cuz, well, it is glass afterall. Also, way easier to clean. I like the sandwich size ones for lunch, they have a lovely red top. I bought a multi-size set from costco which is better for larger dinner type leftovers.
The plastic tupperware? Great to use or give away leftoevers for guests until they are gone.
Much love and happy Friday!
