Ziploc Vacuum Sealer
How can I keep cookies fresh while they're mailed halfway across the world?
I'd love to send home-baked chocolate chip cookies to my boyfriend in the States and it'll take about 10 days to reach him. I'm mailing the cookies as soon as they've cooled down from baking meaning I'm mailing them out the same day. Other than wrapping them in pairs in clingwrap and putting them in a ziploc bag, how can I ensure they'll arrive fresh? I don't have a vacuum food sealer which sucks - I wanted to send him fudgey brownies but it's out of the question.
My grandpa always sent me fresh baked cookies when I was in college in Lugano, Switzerland, he vacuum sealed them and then reused one of those cookie tins - I received them fresh and after 5 days they were still very fresh. Ziploc now makes a vacuum seal bag that you do not need one of those machine sealers to use and it does not crush the foods - it as a little plug on top and you control the air sealer and pressure manually.
Do I get a cookie now ? or a brownie please ?

Can i keep sliced apples fresh with Ziploc Vacuum Sealer bags?
I like the convenience of the apples already sliced and bagged from the store, but i would like to find a way to slice the apples myself and keep them fresh in the refrigerator for a week or so. I use ziploc vacuum sealer bags for meat and veggies and it works great, but does anyone know if they will keep apples from turning brown? maybe if i squeezed lemon juice on them first and then sealed them in the bag? If anyone has tried this please let me know how it went. thanks!
jacksprat, i do not appreciate your asinine remark. i like them sliced because i dip them in peanut butter. it is not CONVENIENT for me to slice the apple while i am driving, therefore i like to have them already sliced to grab on the go. you're an a**hole
ya it wroks but just add a little water in the bag first cuz if u dnt they get all dry. And if u hve a ltl apple juice drizzle it over and they taste rly good
