plastic containers & food storage doubt?
Should dry food ingredients like sugar, coffee powder, tea powder, chilly powder , nuts,flour etc be stored only in food safe plastics ? Or any plastic container is alright? I am concerned about plastic leaching into ingredients.
I know it is not good to store cooked food in non safe plastic containers. But does it hold the same for dry food
ingredients also? Clarify please.
that is the only way to store them. plastic has less air that gets into it. Glass is better, but if you have kids, you want to use plastic. Please, to get anything from plastic, you would have to eat it straight for 10 years to get a disease from it. It has been around longer than you and I, and no one we know has gotten cancer from plastic.

Stainless steel food storage container
just purchased a set of plastic food storage containers. How can u pull them apart when stuck together?
Another thing to do is DO NOT pull hard on the containers as you try to separate them. Ease up the tension a bit and they should come apart. This works especially well on larger containers. It's kind of like that old carnival prize, the woven tube that you stick a finger in each end...the harder you pull the tighter it holds your fingers. When you relax it lets up and you can get your fingers out.

Excellent article! I have been trying to tell my family about the need to prepare for just such a disaster. I finally realized I was getting through just a bit when my oldest daughter commented on how convenient our food storage is. She has now decided to start one of her own.
We learned just how important it is to prepare ahead when my husband was out of a job for 5 months. Our food storage was literally a life saver for us then!! I'm sure a time is coming in the not too distant future when it will be even more of a necessity. Scary thought, but true.
