How can I get jalapeno flavor off my plastic storage containers?
My hubby loves em I don't care for them. I have a small rubbermaid food container that he put them in then microwaved. I have tried soaking in bleach water already. Neighbored offered to wash in dishwasher. What can I do?
Husbands, plastic food containers and microwaves do not mix well.
Try your neighbor's offer of the dishwasher. I know the dishwasher does the best job on Tupperware that you could imagine. It is just possible that you will never get the flavor completely out of the plastic, since it was heated up. The component that makes jalapenos hot is oil soluble and plastic is a petroleum based product, so you may find that the flavor is forever bonded to your containers. You could do what I do and tell him to use only the ones he has already ruined (this does not work that well). Or buy the glass microwavable storage containers like these:

Which Food Storage Containers Work Best?
Can anyone recommend BPA-free, eco-friendly food storage containers?
Everyone says Rubbermaid has some, but it's not listed in the description, and I can't find where it says they are. Ideally, they'd be cheap, but I'm ready to stop storing all my food in old BPA-lined containers.
