How to dry out a car interior?
I took my car to the shop last week for a new alternator. Well, the day before I was supposed to pick it up, it rained like crazy. I think between 5-7 inches, and my windows had been left down because he couldn't roll up my windows.
So, he said he shop-vac'ed out all the standing water, but it's still soaked.
So far I've shop-vac'ed a bit.
Put towels on the wettest part then put something heavy on it.
And now, I have my car sitting outside, all the windows up, trunk closed, everything, and I have the heater on high.
Does anybody else have any tips on how to dry out my car faster and avoid the smell and mildew?

Hi - My car got all wet inside and I used the shopvac and towels first. Then I let the heater in the car run for 5 or 6 hours. It didn't seem to help as I still got a lot of nasty mildew and mold smell. I ended up replacing the carpet. Anyway in the process I found some good webpages for info on cleaning the carpeting, getting rid of smell and replacing the carpet.

Flying Hot Rolls!!!! duck and cover!! (vac 3 of 3)
Help! I dropped my wedding ring down the heater vent. I removed the cover and can see it with a flashlight..
but I can't reach it. The vent is sort of L shaped, and the ring rolled down and over. I tried bending a wire hanger into a hook to drag it towards me. I tried a shop vac. I tried tape. It is in a really akward spot and I can't get it. Any ideas?
The easiest and best is probably the gum on a straightened clothes hanger. I bet you've got the materials available right now for that.
I can't believe all the suggestions about a magnet. Sad state of the world when folks don't pay enough attention during school to learn that gold is not magnetic.
To the response below.... The most common and traditional material that a wedding ring is made of is gold, so I assumed the ring was gold as most others reading this thread did. I do apologize if I offended anyone. At one point in my life I was a substitute teacher and I was continually appalled at the limited knowledge most students had in science and mathematics. Even the best and brightest students were really lacking in these fields and most probably couldn't answer the question either. Again, sorry if I offended you or anyone else, but I call them as I see them!
