it was a summer day. the air was cool but felt warm on my back as my father loaded the firewood onto the pickup truck. there was some maple, pine and oak but mostly there was white birch. after loading the truck we drove home on the dirt road that led out the woods. its my job to stack the firewood neatly in the shed next to our corn silos. its also my responsibility to make sure that our herd of cattle is properly fed. im going fishng in our pond after i finish my chores. thats my favorite part of a summer day
