Fruit Tree
Maryland homeowner want to plant a fruit tree in his backyard, what are his option?
If you live in warm area like Texas or California, of course u can plate orange, pineapple, lychee, and eveything else. But I am moving to Maryland in a few month and plan to buy a house there and plate a FRUIT tree in my backyard, and i don't like apple tree, what other option do I have? will strawberry tree survive in these extrem cold weather? what are the suggestion? thanks alot.
Living in Maryland for many years I have seen peach be very prolific.
Cherry can do well too. Cherry, Plum and Persimmon is native here so these are hints at what will do well. Sorry you don't like apple. When you settle in you should give a call to the extension agent in the county you will reside and ask what varieties do best in your specific area.

How do I cover a fruit tree to protect from freezing?
We have a peach tree and it will freeze tonight. We want to protect the fruit as much as the plant.
The plant is almost 5 feet tall.
Any tips?
Any blanket you don't care too much about will work. We use burlap in the fall, going into winter, but in Minnesota, all your trees freeze, it just helps protect them from burning.

Namaskar all,Thank you for the posts. Very helpful for me. When to act for instance after listening.I liked the following part very much:The sun does not decide it will shine on this person today and not that one because it does not like this one. Or a fruit tree does not say I am not going to offer my fruit to this one or to that one. That shows how nature is and the Universe (the Source) has created everything so it has no discrimination towards anything.Listening from a vast space and shining our love from there. A space where there is no conflict, a space where I feel compelled to act or not.I like the view of not forcing my will upon another if I think this or that should be better. What do I know? I have an opinion, but the other can have an opinion too from my same Universe. Everyone is wise in some manner. I learn a lot from listening to others and seeing what strikes me when I’m centered in that vast loving space.Thank you for sharing.All my love,Henk
