whats in your child(s) lunch bag?
My son is a picky eater. He isnt big on lunch meats so it's hard to make a good healthy lunch for him. The school lunch menu consist of a variety of meals to choose from, but nothing my child will eat. So I have to send him with his lunch almost everyday. Now I have a hard time finding what kind of sandwiches to put in his lunch...his lunch usually consist of a peanut butter sandwich, orange slices, apple juice, apple sauce or goldfish crackers, pringles ( i know a no no), banana, apple slices. I try to put in a fruit/juice/sandwich and a cracker like item. What do you put in your child(s) lunch bags? I need more variety to add...any other sandwich or a main item to put in his lunch bag?
Instead of sending him with a boring typical sandwich on plain white or whole wheat bread, try this.
Make him a stuffed pita/tortilla.
Fill it with things he would like...one idea you could do is a pizza pita. Stuff it with pepperoni, fresh grated mozzarella, and marinara sauce.
Another idea would be a tortilla wrapped about grilled chicken and cheese.
Also if you pack little tupperware containers with the toppings, he can make his own stuffed pita at lunch himself. Don't forget to include dressing or sour cream or salsa.
All his friends will be jealous trust me. Wraps are much tastier and interesting than typical lunchbox sandwiches.
Another good idea is to a buy a bunch of different fruits, one each, from your grocery store or market. One day on the weekend, get him to have a taste-testing day where he can try all new things and see if he enjoys different fruits and veggies. Where veggies are concerned, the best way to get them to eat is to include a yummy french onion or ranch dipping sauce.
I hope that helped a bit. Just remember if you get him involved in preparing the lunch with you, he might enjoy it better and stop being so picky.
