How to make really good taco meat?
I make tacos using a taco kit (box of taco shells and packaged powder to mix with the meat) and it sucks!! it tastes horrible and the meat/powder mixture is always too thick and it has horrible flavor! How do I make really good taco meat that tastes as good as the stuff at taco bell/taco johns??
Restaurant-Style Taco Meat Seasoning -- you can double the water and cook in crockpot on low for 3 hours.
INGREDIENTS
1 1/2 tablespoons corn flour
4 1/2 teaspoons chili powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1/4 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon dried minced onion
1/2 teaspoon beef bouillon granules
1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper
1 1/3 pounds lean ground chuck
1 cup water
DIRECTIONS
In a medium bowl, combine the corn flour, chili powder, onion powder, garlic powder, and seasoned salt. Stir in the paprika, cumin, garlic salt, and sugar. Blend in the onion, bouillon, and ground red pepper, stirring until all spices are well blended.
Crumble the ground chuck into a large skillet over medium heat. Cook, stirring, until browned. Remove from heat, rinse meat with hot water, and drain water and grease from beef.
Return meat to skillet, and pour in seasoning. Stir in water. Reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer until most of the liquid has cooked away, about 20 minutes.

n e 1 know where a gyro sandwich kit can be purchased, it has meat, sauce and pita bread?
I used to buy a kit in the grocery store to make Gyro sandwiches, it had the pita bread, the Santzicki Sauce and a vacuum sealed package of the meat, anyone know if anyone still sells it?
I've never seen the product you're talking about, and I'd be interested in that myself. I usually make them with Steak-Umm's (which you can find anywhere), cream cheese, tomatoes, and onions. The only thing I sometimes can't find is the pita bread.
It's not really a true gyro, but it's an easy-to-make alternative.

I would simmer it a bit in olive oil,a bit of shaved onion,sprinkle with grated cheese ,serve on warm toast,a can of backed beans if you have it!!
These photos make me think of how humans are being transformed into commodities to be sold and marketed. The way the netting is pulled tight over the face in the bottom portrait reminds me of meat packaging yet also brings about the feeling of entrapment. The top image stirs up ideas of integrating technology into the natural life systems. Very nice work, would like to see more.
