Dairy Packaging Quality Testing and Analysis
Dairy products as the daily necessity, plays more and more important role in our life. Many dairy manufacturers, in order to meet the demands of customers, promote new products with new packages. The flexible package quality control of dairy products, thus, becomes more prominent. Hereinafter is the introduction to the flexible package quality control and analysis.
1. Gas and Water Vapor Transmission Testing and Analysis of Dairy Flexible Packaging Materials
The gas and water vapor transmission property tests of dairy packaging materials are of vital importance in dairy industry, and affect the product quality directly. Mocon (US), PBI (Denmark) and PERME OX2/230 Oxygen Transmission Rate Test System can all test the relevant indexes. Labthink PERME OX2/230 Oxygen Transmission Rate Test System is of coulometric principle and equal pressure method for the oxygen transmission property testing of film, sheets and containers (bottles, bags, cans and boxes). 2. Testing and Analysis of the Heat Seal Strength of Dairy Flexible Packages
Heat seal is an important index for packaging materials. Every kind of packaging material needs to be manufactured into bags to pack kinds of products, of which, heat seal is a necessary procedure to accomplish packaging process. The seal of dairy products needs to achieve certain strength to burden certain gravity of the content and to avoid breakage during circulation process. 3. The Testing and Analysis of the Coefficient of Friction of Dairy Flexible Packaging Materials

4. Leakage Testing and Analysis of Dairy Packages
Leakage is also an important index of flexible packages, especially for dairy products, and has great influence on product quality. Inferior sealing performance is the main cause of the following leakage and deterioration. There are several methods to test leakage, and the most common method is by leak tester. Utilize vacuum method, and keep the specimen under pressures of -30kPa, -50kPa, -70kPa and -90kPa for 0.5 minute respectively. Pay attention to the leakage during vacuumizing and vacuumed periods if successive bubbles appear. Isolated bubble will not be regarded as leakage. Through the testing of leakage, we can evaluate the quality of the packages and judge the corresponding sealing processing.
The above-mentioned method is visual and quality testing method. If quantitative seal and leak performance needs to be tested, positive pressure method testers can be adopted. For example, Labthink LSSD-01 Leak and Seal Strength Detector.
5. The Testing and Analysis of the Composite/Bond Strength of Dairy Packaging Materials
The flexible packages of dairy products, like aseptic pack, are mainly made of composite plastics or composite paper, of which, the stronger combined/bond strength is preferred as well as favorable corresponding tear resistance and destructive resistance. After the composite materials have been processed into bags, they are easy to be influenced by the wet or chemical ingredients in the fierce environment and the combined layers are easy to be injured. Using high viscosity tackiness agent will surely achieve high quality composition, but with more production costs.
The qualified and cost-saving composite material needs to undergo quality-testing analysis for the layers so as to find proper composition indexes. Nowadays, both the domestic and abroad tensile testers can execute peeling tests, but they are of the universal type with simple calculation.
