Why do I find a thick liquid in my thermos (vacuum) flask after I've used it for coffee?

I live in China, am aware of China's shortcomings when it comes to quality and health in their manufacture and so perhaps am being a little paranoid here but... why is it that when I fill my Chinese-made thermos flask with instant coffee for a long train journey, having drunk all the coffee, the next time I open the flask up to wash it it contains a cc or so of a viscous yellow fluid? Is the coffee reacting with the flask? Is there some kind of liquid between the layers of the flask that's leaking into the central container? Is this something that just happens with dregs of instant coffee left lying around in a thermos flask? Are aliens putting things in my thermos while I'm sleeping? No, forget the last one, but if anyone has had a similar experience or, better, an answer as to what is happening I'd be most interesting. An internet search has revealed nothing so far.
*Sorry, that should have read 'most interested'... shameful...

Any of the sediments involved slink to the bottom and remain in the thermos.
The sediments could be any of the following:
Stuff in the water itself.
Undissolved coffee crystals.
Any of the additives you use, creamer, sweetener, flavorings.
You can avoid some of this if you like. Just before you take a sip of your coffee just swirl the flask a bit to get the settled sediments back into suspension. You will consume the stuff that normally you find in the bottom of the flask.
Now your question is, do I wanna drink the stuff that settles or not?
By the way to keep the aliens away attach a small bit of aluminum foil to the cap of the flask. This will scare them away. At least that's what the voices have told me.
