EMERGENCY POVERTY RECIPE! lol need help w/food ingredients?
I have frozen Tilapia, red baby potatoes, onions, a few green apples (idk if thats applicable lol), soy sauce, milk, eggs, and a few seasonings like garlic salt and a lemony meat salt thing. THANKS FOR SUGGESTIONS!!! =)
Like mentioned above - season the fish with the lemon pepper and a touch of soy sauce to enhance the flavors by utilizing the salt in the sauce.
Scrub the potatoes, chunk them and rinse them in water or soak them for a few in a bowl of water - to remove some of the starch to keep them from burning so fast. If you have any kind of fat or oil (butter, margarine, lard, shortening, cooking oil, even chile pepper-infused oil would work! Pat the potatoes dry and toss them a pan with the fat/oil. Add a mild to moderate sprinkling of the garlic salt - not too much - UGH! Salt! when they're about halfway done, chop onions and toss in to saute - cook until the potatoes are done and the onions have caramelized.
Apples? You could:
#1 Chop and cook with the fish!
#2 Chop/slice and cook in a pan with oil/fat (except for the chile-infused stuff - but that wouldn't be a first if you did)
Spices like cinnamon? Cloves? Allspice? Oriental 7-Spice?
Any White rice?
Any natural sweetener like honey? Brown sugar? Powdered sugar? Molasses (go easy on this one though)?
Spice up the apples as you're cooking them. When they're done (like apple pie) - add natural sweetener to taste and a teeny bit of milk (teaspoons) to make a sauce. Do this on a really low heat (will burn fast). If you have white rice - cook some white rice and plop the cooked apples on top with a bit of the sweetened sauce. Yum.

Bland food for cat post op?
My poor cat had to go to the emergency vet last Saturday night as she had been beaten up really badly by another cat - she was even bleeding from her bottom!
Anyway after a week of antibiotics she seemed to be on the mend - until today, when I had to take her in to the Vet to have a massive abscess on the top of her tail operated on.
She is supposed to have a meal of bland food tonight due to the anesthetic - I have tried chicken and rice, chicken by itself, scrambled egg (recommended by vet!) and she wont eat it any of it, she is starving though and asking me for food - what else can I try for her??
I taped up the cat flap at 4 am last Saturday. As is the second time she has been hurt by another cat. I hate keeping cats in and she isnt in any danger from the road - at the end of the day though her health is more imprtant so she will have to be an inside cat!
I will try the weetabix and tuna (not together!!) - thanks!
Hi, Little soul, i hope she feels alright soon. Have you tried fish, when one of my cat's is feeling ill i go to the chippy and buy a fish they love it and i know if that dosent work then nothing will. If she still wont eat, just make sure she is still getting liquids, and then try again tomorrow she may be feeling a bit better then. Good Luck.
