Replacement Rolls Turbo
1962 chevy truck chassis replacement?
I have a 1962 chevy C10 stepside. I'm looking into upgrading the frame, brakes, suspension, 6 to 5 lug etc... will a late model 70's-80's chevy truck frame work as any easy replacement for my body to set on? Or should I go to Jim Meyer racing and buy a modern direct replacement rolling chassis? My set up now as far as engine and tranny are a late 90's crate 350 and turbo 350 tranny. Not sure if anyone has any experience in doing a chassis replacement and how cost effective one way would be to another.
It depends if money is no object...
Realistically it would require the least amount of work to install the body on a late model chassis, a la 1973-1999 GM half ton chassis. It should be very close to a bolt up. I have seen many do this with a 4WD chassis.
What I have seen a lot of is S-10 chassis swaps on a lot of older cars/trucks but to keep it a "truck" a 1/2 ton will work for you.
