Saver Vacuum System
how much electricity does my house require?
I am building a new house and need to know the amount (watts) of power supply required. I've made a list of my appliances.
* indicates daily use
** indicates constant use
** Fish Tank Light: 18W
* Computer: 850W x 2
Phone charger: 5v x 2
Oven: ?
* kettle: 2200w
** fridge: 725w
** Freezer: 725w
microwave: 1100w
* Washing machine:500w
iron: 1400w
TV: 120w
vacuum cleaner: 1440w
toaster:1400w
* Pump for well:1100w (a guess)
** septic aerator: 120w
* Energy saver light globes: 18w x10
welder: ?
sander: 800w
grinder: 700w
The house will be 112m2 and have 2 people living in it. We will have about 9 power points. The stove top and hot water system will be gas. We will not require aricon or heating. I live in Australia.
I'd also like to know- if we only need (eg) about 200w, is it more expensive to get provision for 400 or more? What's the difference?

You give the watts for the items but what you need is the amperes for the devices and the voltage that you use where you live 120 v or 240v then you should be able to figure out the amperes that you will need.
( amps= watts divided by voltage) if your total watts is 16000 watts and your voltage is 240v then you would need 66 amps if you were running everything at once which I doubt you would do. I doubt if you would use the welder the same time you are using the sander and grinder while using the vac and all the burners and oven on the stove with all the lights on while doing the wash see what I mean. In the US homes now have a min. of 100 amps with most having 150 to 200 amps.
