How do these 3 set ups sound for a 20 gallon?
I have 2 male dwarf gouramis in a 10 gallon and one of them is constantly being attacked to the point where his tail has splits in it. I'm going to remove the Gourami that attacks and put him in the 20 gallon.
1st set up would include:
1 Dwarf Gourami
4-5 cory cats
6 hatchet fish
either 6 Harlequin Rasboras or 6 neon tetras
2nd set up would include:
1 dwarf gourami
3 cory cats
Tank divider
1 betta
3 cory cats
3rd set up would include:
Your ideas revolving around my dwarf gourami of course.
I like the first setup with Harlequin Rasboras. They are hardier than the Neons and more fun to watch. Tank dividers are very stressful if fish can see though them. The Betta and Gourami would spend a lot of time flaring at each other, and the divider might get knocked over, leading to an undivided tank...

How much gravel do i need for the bottom of my 125 gallon aquarium?
Just bought a used, 125 gallon aquarium set-up but i need gravel for the bottom. How much?
Does someone have an estimate on how much in POUNDs? I'm trying to figure out how much i need to buy.
It depends on what kind of fish you plan to have in it. Cichlids like to root around and move gravel (2-3 inches). Dwarf cichlids like sand, it is much easier to move for them (1-1.5 inches). Loaches like sand also, they burrow into it and hide (1-2 inches). You could have both if you wanted. Sand in one end and gravel in the other.
Usually it is about one pound per gallon of water. Or about 2-3 inches deep.
