Vacuum Seal
Will using those vacuum seal bags ruin my down coat?
I've bought some of those vacuum seal bags for my upcoming move. I really want to store my big down coat in one of them since its quite cumbersome and takes up a lot of room.
I'm concerned that putting my coat in one of these bags will permanently flatten it out of give it permanent wrinkles.
Has anyone had experience with these? Should I store my coat some other way?

if it's vacuum sealed, it will last forever, but once you open it, you should use it within a few weeks.

We don't have a Costco here. I buy the bags in bulk from a sporting goods store because they're cheaper than Sam's. I wish I could find a plain Seal-a-Meal with the vacuum option and the MUCH cheaper plain boil-in bags, but I haven't seen one of those in years. Seal-a-meal now does a vacuum sealer that's OK, but doesn't rock like the Food Saver.
I didn't vacuum seal these bags because they were still very liquid, and vacuuming them would have been a mess.
Your pesto looks so good. Any nuts would work and I love walnuts. I made my with pistachios. I always make extra pesto to vacuum-seal and store in the freezer for future use. Just place the extra in an ice-cube tray and freeze it. Transfer the ice-cubes 3 by 3 into bags with wax paper in between, then vacuum-seal and place back in the freezer. What about vacuum seal bags? Not sure if this might be something that could be mixed up prior, chilled, then boiled when needed. Of course, you'd only want to seal the bags — not use the vacuum.
